Much is made of the need for strength and conditioning as a means to treat or correct back pain. Core strengthening is only one of the current mass market surges that imply that increasing your strength will reduce or eliminate back pain. Traditional models of physical therapy follow a similar mindset. Ive come across a number of studies that seem to cast doubt on this theory. As I have stated in the past, there is little controversy that improving one’s overall condition has a positive impact on many aspects of our lives. But to claim that doing so will eliminate the cause of the pain is simply bad science. Check out these research citations yourself:
