Finding my voice: A patient-centered perspective
In the latest edition of Massage & Fitness Magazine, I was asked to contribute an article relating to touch. The current issue is devoted to what might be happening beneath your skin (and in your brain) when we touch or are touched. Nicolas Ng, the publisher of Massage & Fitness Magazine, knew of my passion for the patient-centered model of care and how it plays into such discussions, and the result is this article. Given my strong stance on questioning claims made in the manual therapy communities, I don’t always make fans questioning professionals who feel that they have unique access to the tissue, structure, or pathology under the skin. However, I do question these claims, and the search for simpler models is what I cover in this article.
Nick Ng has permitted for me to share the article with my readers and I would strongly encourage you to check out and subscribe to his magazine, focused on the science behind the work most of us utilize.
